In fact, sales is more active than most jobs, since your pay often depends on how much you sell, and it takes plenty of hustle to bring new customers on board. However, if you’re already working in sales, or considering it as a career, it could be useful to focus on products that can bring in residual income in addition to the usual commission. That way, you can continue earning money on work you’ve already done.
The great news about building a website, though, is that you can build a wonderfully functioning and looking site with zero web building experience, today. Not just today, but in just a few hours. You don’t even need to spend a ton of money, either. YouTube is flooded with step-by-step videos on how to build a website or blog from scratch. You simply follow what they do on their screen and you do the same on yours. It’s best to search YouTube on your own for these videos by finding a site you think looks nice, but here’s an example of what I’m talking about.

I personally prefer to do it that way--you can create a more convincing review that's more likely to make sales. It's not always possible or practical, though; for example, would you break up with your significant other just to test a product for getting your ex back? ;-) In cases like that, or if the product is expensive, it's usually best just to use the vendor's affiliate resources instead.

I know it’s part of Shareasale, but Wayfair might be worth mentioning. They’re a huge site (mainly home & garden and pets) and actually have a better selection than Amazon in a lot of categories. I used them successfully on an old home furnishings site I had since Amazon’s selection of products was lacking in this particular niche. 5% commission on everything with a 30-day cookie and easy to get approved from what I remember.

Blogs about consumables have the advantage of obvious choice for affiliate products to sell. If you just reviewed a certain pair of shoes, then you can stick an affiliate link to sell the shoes. Blogs that are not specifically about products don’t always have as congruent a choice when it comes to affiliate products to promote, but I would argue there is always something to sell if you think laterally.
