The most important thing in affiliate marketing is your website. Not only do you need to have a website to sell your affiliate products but it needs to be an attractive, well-designed, easy-to-navigate site. Think about how many times you have gone to a website and it was cluttered with advertisements, or you couldn’t find the menu bar, or it took forever to load, and you just immediately got frustrated and looked for the information elsewhere. Often times when we think about the basics of internet marketing, we overlook the most basic important part of our brand.

Social media can work better for some businesses than others. As a rule of thumb, test Linkedin when marketing to businesses and Facebook when marketing to consumers, though many B2B businesses have been successful with Facebook advertising. Try Twitter Video Ads, Stumble Upon’s Paid Discovery, Promoted Pins, +Post Ads for Google+ and more to reach your target audience.
Do you think it’s possible to build a blog from scratch, outsourcing the work from day one (assuming I have some cash that can cover the initial expenses until the blog generates enough income to at least break even)? In other words, do you think you could you have spent your $500 max per month for the writer, social media expert, etc to build your blog to the point it’s earning the same amount of money it does now?
I just started doing affiliate marketing for Amazon and other sites like CJ and Rakuten. In that regard, I highly recommend you build your own email list. By building an email subscriber list using a service like AWeber, you’re essentially creating a list of people that trust you and want to hear about your affiliate products' recommendations. As you may have noticed, the above list is merely alphabetical. Keep also in mind that many of the above are significantly broader than a pure “affiliate network”. SkimLinks works very similarly to VigLinks in that it is designed for bloggers who don’t want to do a lot of hands-on work to participate in an affiliate program. SkimLinks also works much like VigLinks in that it uses a plugin or script to create dynamic links in your content to send visitors to higher paying offers from merchants. SkimLinks claims to work with over 24,000 merchants/advertisers.
Obviously, these are much higher than you’re going to get with most other investments. No type of sales job can be considered truly passive. In fact, sales is more active than most jobs, since your pay often depends on how much you sell, and it takes plenty of hustle to bring new customers on board. However, if you’re already working in sales, or considering it as a career, it could be useful to focus on products that can bring in residual income in addition to the usual commission. That way, you can continue earning money on work you’ve already done.
Credit Card Processing. Suppose you work for a company that sells credit card processing services to retail merchants. When a merchant signs on with you, you earn an up-front payment and continuing residual payments based on how many sales that merchant makes with your service. The higher the merchant’s sales volume, the bigger your residual payment – and the more merchants you sell your service to, the more of these payments you can collect.
· Believe in quantity and not quality. You will be surprised to find that the biggest companies are not the ones that fetch the most traffic. Therefore, make sure that you are giving quality to the visitors through your internet marketing efforts. If they get quality, they will always come back for more, and when this happens, you will be able to get better business.
I obviously think that a good price point and lifelong cookies are ideal, but I also think that the product has to be really valuable – really offer the person I’m sending something that they can use and will be happy with. I personally remember the people who point me to valuable products, and I trust them more for future products. It’s not just a matter of ethics (although that’s a big part of it) but it’s also a matter of future sales!
