A Cushion for Emergencies. A large percentage of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, with no savings to fall back on in an emergency. The Federal Reserve’s annual report on the economic health of households  found that 47% of Americans couldn’t easily come up with an extra $400 to cover an unexpected expense, such as a car repair or a trip to the emergency room. If you’re part of that 47%, a passive income stream could give you the extra cash you need to build up an emergency fund without having to cut back on your current spending.
StudioPress itself is somewhat of a niche product as it is targeted to existing WordPress users who found setting up and managing a WordPress site too difficult or time-consuming. StudioPress prides itself on being easy to use, but their main claim to fame is that their hosted websites are “faster and more secure” than other WordPress hosting companies as well as using the “Genesis framework” which is supposedly more SEO friendly than other WordPress builds.
You can earn money by blogging and writing on websites that pay you in cryptocurrencies if your content is liked by the readers. Also, if you already know that your content is valuable, you can directly monetize your content for cryptocurrencies for giving the full access to your content to the respective reader. Some of these websites that allow you to do so are:
Now that you’ve chosen your market, find a way to start sharing your message, whether it’s a blog or podcast or Youtube channel, or whatever platform makes the most sense for your target market. Flynn says this is where you’ll start to build a fan base — and collect subscriber emails. You don’t need to get the whole world to follow you to make this work out financially. Wired cofounder Kevin Kelly wrote an article about 1,000 True Fans, which basically says that if you have 1,000 people paying you $100 a year, that’s a $100,000 a year. “You don’t need to serve everybody,”  says Flynn.
When you see the phrase “passive income” in an article, it’s often referring to money earned from passive income investments, such as dividend-yielding stocks or peer-to-peer lending. However, investing is only one way of earning income when you’re not working. There are a variety of other ways to set up a passive income stream by putting in an initial investment of time, money, or both – and there are even a few that don’t take very much of either.
I couldn’t talk about the basics of internet marketing without talking about social media marketing. Social media is still one of the best ways to connect with people, expand your brand, and engage new readers. Social media marketing comes in a variety of forms. There are the standards like providing interesting content through social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but other forms of social media marketing like community building sites, forums, and message boards like Pinterest or StumbleUpon are also quite valuable. Creating shareable content for a variety of social media sites is the key to successful social media marketing.
This is where authentic experience comes in. When you have experienced the problem, attempted to solve it by using a product, then you are in a position to inherently understand the questions your readers are asking. If you can’t draw on authentic experiences and a genuine understanding of where your reader is coming from, it is difficult to write a review that sells.

Again, there are many other software brands that chose to keep their affiliate programs in-house, and the above list represents only a few of the top brands that do so. To find the platform choice of your favorite brand (be it a network or their “in-house” one) just look in their website’s footer or search for their affiliate program using your preferred search engine.

Social media can work better for some businesses than others. As a rule of thumb, test Linkedin when marketing to businesses and Facebook when marketing to consumers, though many B2B businesses have been successful with Facebook advertising. Try Twitter Video Ads, Stumble Upon’s Paid Discovery, Promoted Pins, +Post Ads for Google+ and more to reach your target audience.

Also, make sure that you can earn rewards on the things you buy most often. Some cash back cards give you a low, flat percentage back on all your purchases, while others pay a higher percentage, but only on certain types of purchases. A card that pays 5% cash back at restaurants is a great deal if you eat out all the time, but if you almost never do, you’re better off with a card that pays a smaller bonus at stores you actually use.
Excellent list. Shareasale has been my best performing from the list. Another strategy I’ve used is to contact individual companies and ask about their affiliate programs. Some companies run in-house affiliate programs, which means they have a select few affiliates that they work with. Such companies can be quite profitable to work with as you’ll be competing with way less affiliates.
You’ve probably heard of affiliate marketing before – it’s when you earn a commission by promoting a product. The product you promote online should be something you’re knowledgeable about and that you believe is high quality. Common sense, right? You’d be surprised by how many affiliate marketers forget that principle, but that’s a whole other story.
Lastly, the fourth category refers to paid advertising. Much like traditional print advertising, paid internet advertising allows you to reach people when and where you want. When using Facebook Advertising or Google AdWords, you will typically operate on a pay per click model – or PPC. Under this model, you only pay the advertiser when your ad is clicked. This makes it a very cost-effective form of marketing, ensuring you don’t waste money when no value is being received.
While passive income isn’t always easy to come by, it is possible to create residual revenue streams — even as a beginner. Remember, not all options will make sense for you. And chances are you’ll find one that sounds the most promising. Not sure which that may be? The best way to find out is just to simply get started. Many of the options on this list are free or at least offer a free trial, which gives you a chance to try before you buy!
The idea behind cashback is simple: you get rewarded for purchasing or using products you plan to buy anyway. Cashback sites pay you when you click through them, go to retailers, and spend. For example, check out eBates.com - There are over 2,000 stores to choose from including Walmart, Target, Sears, Calvin Klien, and others. You also get a $10 gift card after your first $25 purchase. Sign up is free. (If you encounter a cashback site where it’s not, avoid it.
Now most people think that if they just load their website with keywords then they’ll be easier to find. However, search engine algorithms are smarter than that. They are looking for sites that provide valuable content that is relevant to the user, not just the right keywords. On this article, for example, the main keyword I’m attempting to rank for is “the basics of internet marketing”, but I’m not just trying to rank this page. I’m trying to make it helpful for you, my website visitor!
Previously known as Affiliate Window but now officially referred to as “AWIN” after acquiring Zanox a few years ago, this network claims to work with over 13,000 active advertisers and 100,000 publishers (affiliates). Founded in Germany, AWIN’s merchants primarily hail from Europe (especially Great Britain) although the U.S. network is growing rapidly. AWIN is currently active in 11 countries.

In the spirit of meditation, I just came across singing bowls from iSingingBowls. These new and antique Tibetan singing bowls produce enchanting vibrational tones when struck – creating almost instant relaxation. Listen to the demos on the product pages for yourself and you’ll feel the energy it creates. It pierces through your skin – in a good way.
In Eric Reis’s The Lean Startup, a fantastic book about how today’s entrepreneurs and startup companies are approaching the way they create and innovate, Eric talks about how vital it is to use validated learning and scientific experimentation to be able to steer a company in the right direction. In other words, to use customer feedback and quantified data analysis (of real, non-vanity metrics) from a minimal viable product to make decisions and pivot a business one way or another.
Once your audience has grown and you have validation that you’re offering them value, there are many ways to create passive income. You could sell digital products like ebooks or courses, take up affiliate marketing in which you promote other company’s products and earn a commission when you sell that item to your audience, build a community and charge people to be a part of it, create software and sell that, among other avenues. Ask your audience directly what would serve them best, or look at what they’re saying on Twitter, Facebook or other websites, to find out what problems they have and how you could help solve them.

This can be a little easier said than done, but if you have a large social media following, you can definitely earn money promoting a product or advertising for a company. You can even combine this with different marketing campaigns if you are an influencer and have your own blog (advertisement + affiliate income). This is how many bloggers make money! Again, it is not 100% passive but once set up correctly and then scaled, can be surprisingly lucrative.
You can also sell ad space on your site directly, wherein sponsors pay a certain amount of money per month up front to display their ads on your website. You can seek out advertisers directly by contacting companies that sell products and services related to your site’s content. Or, you can use a site like BuySellAds to let companies know you have space to sell. However, unless your site gets a lot of traffic – say, at least 10,000 unique visitors per day – you’re not likely to find many sponsors interested in advertising with you.
Another benefit, which many online entrepreneurs do not even consider, is that you don’t need to create the whole product before launching it. You only need to create a small portion of your actual content, and complete it only after you get your first member during his membership - that means you get paid IN ADVANCE of actually creating your site content. It also means that you can modify your content based on LIVE feedback from paying customers. More importantly, this is a great way to VALIDATE your site and ensure you create a product based on what customers want, not just what you think they want.

When you make a new acquaintance, often the first question you’re asked is, “What do you do for a living?” This line makes sense as an icebreaker because work occupies such a central place in our lives. If you work a standard 40-hour week, you’re devoting over 35% of your waking hours to your job – more than you can possibly spend on any other single activity.
Investing in a business: Another good way to generate passive income is to invest in a business --even a small one -- in return for a percentage of the profits - just like Shark Tank, only smaller. Lending $10,000 to a local business that, for example, is working on a mobile app for Apple phones could lead to a passive income-generated share of the profits when that mobile app starts selling like hot cakes.

Despite all the variability there is a simple rule that applies to affiliate marketing in almost all cases – the more people you can reach, the more money you make. The quality of visitor plays a huge part, and as I have learned, what you offer to people, how much it costs, how you pitch it and how you initially attract the visitor, has as much impact as the raw numbers, but you at least need *some* numbers to make it work.

I am also going to agree with Dr. Mani (who wouldn’t) The list size sometimes does not matter but rather the type of person on the list. Your tips here will definitely make the small list still very profitable. I believe the same goes for the amount of blog readers you have; a smaller group of voracious buyers is many times better than the larger group of readers that want the freebies.

Real-Time Analytics. Discovering, compiling, and interpreting data is difficult. It is even more taxing when you need to keep tabs on multiple clicks at a time. To lighten your load, Afftrack has a real-time analytics feature that guarantees 99.999% uptime, reliability, and scalability. This way, all you have to do is sit back, relax, and watch your business as it grows.
At the time I had an audience of 500 readers a day, although that may have been over exaggerated because I was using Webalizer to track my numbers, which generally provides a higher total compared to other statistics packages (Google Analytics for example shows less than half the visitors that Webalizer does). I was told about 2% is a reasonable conversion rate from people who know these things, so I assumed that would mean I would get at least 10 sales based on 500 readers.
1. A well-designed website. Design matters, especially when it comes to your website. This is because your website is the most powerful marketing tool for your business. In fact, poor or overdone Web design can get in the way of properly reaching your target audience and meeting business goals, resulting in an almost immediate loss in leads and revenue.
